We Have Finally Arrived at CTS

I will start by saying that nothing seems to go as planned.  I knew that with 3 children and a husband about to start Greek school on July 5th that we needed to get into our apartment by Saturday the 25th of June.  So, I spent a lot of time talking with the guy over facilities at CTS about letting us move in before the 30th, which is the offical move in date we were given.  After much harrassment on my part (I am sure), we finally got word that the apartment would be ready on the 25th.  We spent the afternoon packing a 6x12 U-Haul trailer and then spent the next day packing a 26 foot U-Haul truck.  Not only were those two loaded to capacity, but my van and Todd and Marisa Taylor's truck.  We didn't realize we had so much stuff and how hot it was packing.

We got up early Saturday morning (June 25th) with hopes of arriving at CTS by 8:30 or 9, but nothing goes as planned.  As we were approaching exit 117 (Pinehurst), a tire on the trailer went flat causing a stop at the truck stop and a call to U-Haul.  They were great.  After a hour and a half, we were back on the road and made it to Decatur about 10:30 with great friends who met us there to help us unload.

Thanks to Todd and Marisa who gave up their weekend to help us unload and walk all our boxes and furniture up the sidewalk to the apartment.  We also had some great friends from CTS (Alex, Daniel and Peter) to stop by and lend a hand as well.  Without everyone it would have been a huge task to get everything unloaded.

Now it was time to unpack, but I wasn't sure were to start.  Our apartment looked like a sea of boxes with only mazes to get from one room to the next.  I had to come up with a game plan - where to begin first.  We decided the kitchen would be the best bet since we had to eat.  So, Sunday morning Marisa and I begin cleaning and cleaning and cleaning in order to start unpacking kitchen boxes.  Then Marisa and Todd had to go and it was up to Jason and I to finish the daunting task.  Each night we were up until 1 or 2 in the morning finishing a room.  Most nights we wouldn't even think about supper until 10, but one night we had a wonderful friend, Lynn Hults, who made us dinner (which was delicious) so we had to eat before 10.  By Thursday night everything was done and Jason and I had to wait for the boys to arrive.  They had stayed behind with our parents and it was so hard not having them with us, but it was much better on them not having to deal with the unpacking.  Finally, they arrived on Saturday morning and they were so excited to see there new home.

I know many of you are wondering what the apartment looks like, so here is virtual tour of our apartment.
